Restore worn, faded or corroded metal patio furniture with professional coating removal, sandblasting and powder coating. We refinish suitable wrought iron, steel and aluminum chairs, tables, benches, loungers and complete outdoor furniture sets throughout San Diego County.
Each project is evaluated according to the furniture material, existing finish, corrosion, construction and outdoor exposure. Preparation may include coating removal, abrasive blasting, cleaning and corrosion-resistant primer before the selected powder-coating finish is applied and cured.
Refinishing quality metal furniture can preserve well-built frames, update the color and provide durable protection against sun, moisture, salt air and everyday outdoor use.
Submit clear photos showing the complete furniture set and any rust, corrosion or damaged areas. Include the number of pieces, material if known, and preferred color or finish.
Restore or Replace Your Metal Patio Furniture?
Well-built outdoor furniture can be expensive to replace, especially complete dining sets, loungers and premium cast-aluminum or wrought-iron collections. When the frames remain structurally suitable, professional refinishing can preserve the original furniture while renewing its appearance and protective finish.
We refinish many styles and brands of metal outdoor furniture, including pieces manufactured by Brown Jordan, Tropitone, O.W. Lee, Restoration Hardware and other premium furniture companies. Brand names are used only to identify the furniture we commonly receive; Barrio Logan Powder Coating is not affiliated with or endorsed by these manufacturers.
Our process can remove failing coatings, surface rust and corrosion before the furniture is prepared for primer and powder coating as appropriate. The recommended coating system depends on the metal, existing condition and exposure to sun, moisture and coastal salt air.
Before replacing a quality patio set, send us photos. We can evaluate the visible condition and help determine whether the metal frames appear suitable for refinishing.
How We Refinish Metal Patio Furniture
Inspection and Project Review
We review the furniture material, existing coating, corrosion, construction and overall condition before recommending a refinishing process. Severe rust, cracks, loose joints or damaged components may require repair before coating.
Coating and Corrosion Removal
Existing paint, powder coat, surface rust and corrosion are removed from suitable metal frames through stripping, sandblasting or media blasting as appropriate for the material and condition.
Surface Preparation
The furniture is cleaned and prepared for coating. Additional preparation may include outgassing, masking and application of a corrosion-resistant primer when appropriate for the substrate and outdoor environment.
Powder Coating and Controlled Curing
The selected powder-coating finish is applied and cured according to the coating manufacturer’s time and temperature requirements. The result is a durable, cleanable finish designed for outdoor use.
Final Inspection
After curing, the furniture is inspected for coating coverage and finish quality before it is prepared for customer pickup or available delivery arrangements.
Patio Furniture Refinishing Frequently Asked Questions
1. What types of patio furniture can be powder coated?
We refinish suitable wrought iron, steel and aluminum patio furniture, including chairs, tables, benches, loungers, stools and complete outdoor dining sets. Each piece must be evaluated for material, construction and condition.
2. Can aluminum patio furniture be powder coated?
Yes. Suitable cast and tubular aluminum furniture can be powder coated when properly prepared. The process may include coating removal, cleaning, abrasive blasting and outgassing before primer or powder coating is applied.
3. Do you repair patio furniture before coating?
Minor repair or welding work may be available after inspection. Furniture with severe corrosion, structural damage, broken castings or extensive deterioration may require a fabrication or furniture-repair specialist before coating.
4. Do cushions, slings and non-metal components need to be removed?
Yes. Cushions, fabric slings, plastic caps, glides, wheels, umbrellas, glass, wood and other heat-sensitive or non-metal components must be removed before preparation and curing. Customers may remove these items before delivery, or we can remove and reinstall many slings and non-metal components for an additional fee. Availability and pricing depend on the furniture design, component condition and required labor, and should be confirmed during the quote process.
5. Will powder coating permanently stop rust and corrosion?
No coating can permanently prevent corrosion in every environment. Proper preparation, primer selection, coating coverage, maintenance and exposure all affect service life. Furniture near the coast or exposed to standing water may require additional corrosion protection and more frequent care. In addition, Steel and wrought-iron furniture that is not continuously welded may develop rust staining around seams, joints and skip-welded areas.
6. How long will refinished patio furniture last?
Service life depends on the furniture material, preparation, coating system, sun and salt exposure, drainage, use and maintenance. Properly prepared and coated furniture can provide years of service, but we do not use a blanket lifespan estimate for every project.
7. Do you offer pickup and delivery?
Yes. We offer curbside or driveway pickup and delivery, as well as a premium white-glove service for projects requiring additional handling. Availability and pricing depend on the furniture quantity, size, location, access, stairs and level of service requested. Provide photos of the furniture and pickup area when requesting a transportation quote so we can confirm the appropriate service.
8. What should I submit for a patio furniture quote?
Send clear photos showing the complete set, individual piece types and close-ups of rust, corrosion or damage. Include the number of chairs, tables and other pieces, the material if known, your location and preferred color or finish.
