Because coating thickness, corrosion, part geometry and surface condition vary, sandblast-only work cannot always be priced as a fixed bid.     Suitable materials may include steel, cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel, brass and copper. The correct blasting method depends on the material and condition of each part, and some thin, delicate or previously damaged pieces may not be appropriate for abrasive blasting.

Proper surface preparation is essential for powder-coating adhesion and long-term performance. Depending on the metal and its condition, preparation may include coating removal, cleaning, degreasing, sandblasting or media blasting, and outgassing when appropriate.
