Our mail-in service is designed for automotive and motorcycle components, exhaust headers and manifolds, turbo housings, marine hardware, restoration parts, custom-fabricated components and other specialty metal projects worth shipping for professional finishing.
Every shipped project begins with an approved written quote based on photos, drawings and project details. When the parts arrive, we inspect their condition and compare the shipment with the approved scope. If we discover unexpected damage, contamination or preparation requirements, we contact you before performing work outside the approved estimate.
Masking instructions, coating requirements and finish selections are recorded with the project before production begins. After completion, the finished parts are protected, packaged and returned with shipment tracking.
How Our Mail-In Service Works
1. Request and Approve Your Quote
Submit clear photos or drawings, dimensions, quantities, material information, current condition, masking requirements and preferred coating or finish. Do not ship parts until you receive and approve the written quote.
2. Prepare the Parts for Shipping
Parts must be fully drained and free of fuel, oil, coolant and other fluids. Remove bearings, seals, bushings, electronics, rubber components and other heat-sensitive materials unless the approved quote specifically states otherwise. Additional cleaning or disassembly requirements must be discussed before shipping.
3. Pack Each Part Securely
Wrap each component individually and use a strong box rated for the shipment’s size and weight. Heavy metal parts should not touch one another or move inside the package. Protect sharp edges and protruding components, fill all empty space and use reinforced or double-wall packaging when appropriate.
4. Include the Project Information
Place a copy of the approved quote or a document containing your name, telephone number, email address and quote number inside the package. Clearly identify required masking areas, threads, bearing surfaces, mating surfaces and other locations that must remain uncoated.
5. Ship and Send Us the Tracking Number
Ship the package to our San Diego facility using the carrier of your choice. Purchase appropriate shipping insurance for rare, custom or valuable components, and send us the carrier and tracking number after shipment.
6. Arrival Inspection and Scope Confirmation
When the shipment arrives, we inspect the parts and compare them with the approved quote. If the condition, quantity or required preparation differs from the original information, we contact you before completing additional work.
7. Coating and Return Shipping
After the approved preparation and coating process is complete, the parts are inspected, protected and packaged for return. Return-shipping charges are added to the final invoice. Once the balance is paid, the package is shipped and tracking information is provided.
Mail-In Service and Shipping Guidelines
Shipping Costs
Customers are responsible for inbound and return-shipping costs. Return freight, insurance and any approved special-handling or packaging charges are added to the final invoice before the completed parts are shipped.
Carrier Insurance and Transit Risk
Use a trackable shipping service and purchase adequate insurance for rare, custom or valuable components. Barrio Logan Powder Coating is not responsible for loss or damage caused by the shipping carrier before the package reaches our facility or after it leaves our possession.
Packaging Requirements
Customers are responsible for packaging parts securely for inbound shipment. We may replace or reinforce inadequate packaging before return shipping to protect the completed finish. Additional packaging materials or special handling may result in an added charge.
Size and Weight Approval
Provide complete dimensions and approximate weight during the quote process. Oversized, unusually heavy or difficult-to-handle parts must be approved before shipping. Carrier size limits do not automatically mean the part will fit our blasting or curing equipment.
Part Condition and Additional Work
Quotes are based on the photos and information provided. Hidden corrosion, heavy contamination, previous repairs, unexpected coatings or differences in quantity may change the required preparation and price. We will request approval before completing work outside the accepted quote.
Disassembly and Heat-Sensitive Components
Unless specifically included in the approved quote, parts must arrive disassembled and free of bearings, seals, bushings, rubber, electronics, fluids and other heat-sensitive components. Items that cannot be safely prepared or cured may be declined and returned at the customer’s expense.
Masking Instructions
Identify all threads, bearing journals, mating surfaces, sealing areas, identification marks and other locations that must remain uncoated. Final masking requirements should be documented with the approved project information rather than relying solely on loose handwritten notes inside the box.
